If you could meet anyone

If you could meet anyone

A Poem by JenniferMarie

If you could meet anyone? They ask.

Out of all the millions of people here or gone?

Yes.

Then it would be Jack

in an orchard,

in mid afternoon

It is September when the air is just right

and I wouldn’t have to worry about my hair at all

and the sun floats through branches like a lily

I’d tell him that among all the perpetrators

It is obvious that he was an authentic lover and writer

Even when the truth hurt he’d say it

I am the same, I’d tell him

And when it felt right, be vulnerable

Because it is life and it is not forever

I watch so many people running

not with the freedom of a horse

But with the frenzy of scared birds from a tree

Why not sit in the mess or joy?

Cramming the currents of it all until the spirit ripens

And then, even in your imperfection

you begin to smell like lavender

And pigeons crowd around your feet

And moments begin to unfold

word by word onto paper

The above lines. Realistic words and thoughts. I have met old lovers. Old lovers know real face and honest answer. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

You poured yourself into this piece. Word for word, line after line, it was an introduction that would leave your reader in awe. It moved me beyond words, especially the culmination towards the end. That's the best part of a poem, it's the closing, the part in which you walk away with and never forget.

So rightly said. Why can't we just sit and enjoy the blessings of life? Nicely penned.

i really like this...i would also want to meet this honest poet...the one who seems to inspire the speaker in this poem...there is a strength to him and his words...

and we need to sit in both the mess or joy...because that is what writing is made of...we have to feel to write.
