Somewhere In Time

Somewhere In Time

A Poem by Jenny Davis

You will never see mine eyes

as they rain on porcelain pendulums

Nor will you see mine breasts rise and fall,

in sighs of remembrance

Asking the night tide and sidereal day

"How could this be

why has He left me to the blast?"

I will never hear an echo

whether in hums or outcries to comfort

Nor will I acquire and accept

dawn's final good-bye from my sky

Just the silence and me

with the stars as my scars chanting

"What world is this, that spins

and lives without my one true love?"

My soul is benumbed

from winds blowing me invisible

But my heart is heated

from coals of cherished moments

As I speak to the moon

and its eye of never ending light

"I remember somewhere in time...

         .........you loved me"

I can't help but see Christopher Reeves face as he finds the penny in his pocket and looks in disbelief as Jane Seymour fades into oblivion... utter desperation at the thought of separation as I read:

"What world is this, that spins
and lives without my one true love?"

My soul is benumbed
from winds blowing me invisible

But my heart is heated
from fires of cherished moments

As I speak to the moon
and its eye of never ending light

"I remember somewhere in time...
.........you loved me"

These lines could live a life of their own. This is a work to cherish... Gordon

I agree with Brett Campaigne - there is something timeless and mystical about this piece.

"I will never hear an echo
whether in hums or outcries to comfort" - I liked these lines - I'm not totally sure why; they seemed very original, and put a realistic slant on the hyperbolic emotion...we never get quite the dramatic effect we were hoping for...it would mostly likely be an inaudible mumble lol.

Thanks for sharing this with me.

This is just beautiful. It flows so well.
"But my heart is heated
from fires of cherished moments " My favorite part. Treasure it.

That was very beautifully worded, I especially enjoy the imagery because actions speak louder than words... or so to speak. Describing what you miss through sensory images is much more effective than to say the emotion outright! I enjoyed this very much, and possibly more so because I can relate.

wonderful longing Jenny, delivers irresistible feeling of having that, too.

I agree that this piece is sad yet beautiful at the same time.
The last line :
I remember somewhere in time...
.........you loved me"

really ties it all together.
Great write : )

OH MY GOD ! This was so sad yet.... you know, poetry is SHOULD be like a breathless arousal and this poem is dripping in that laced with lots of regrets... So sad and yet beautiful. Very good. I hope I made sense! HA!

. . . . and later in time mine eyes still rain
the scars still pain
and memories wain
without you.

What sorrow, what tears you've brought to pen.
Thank you!
