I still wish

I still wish

A Poem by Jessi

I hear your name,

Its like a cold breeze in the dead of summer,

sending shivers down my spine,

taking me under.

I could call you mine,

but it would be a lie,

I could cry,
But then I ask myself why,

On that cold dark night,

you said goodbye,

I was broken,

but now most days Im fine,

Others I can feel the pain,

Like it was yesterday,

Nothing will heal me,

not even time,

I speak your name,

it is sweet on my lips,

yet sour to my heart,

the memory of how you played me like a game,

It was so long ago,

when I felt that knife,

but still,

I cant let go,

even with the coldness left behind,

I still wish you where mine.

Look at you grow !! So smooth and effortless . Your poem speaks of the language of compassion . Although you have been deeply hurt , there is still a sense of longing that needs to be addressed. Call it closure or whatever else you may but it fuels poetry like this beautiful poem . Thank you.
