A Childhood Forgotten, A Childhood Lost

A Childhood Forgotten, A Childhood Lost

A Poem by Jessica Alvarez
"

its not one of my own , but when i read this story , it touched me :) this poem was written by Danielle Baxter after her best friend committed suicide ....

"

I can't remember,
Skipping rocks on the pond,
My childhoods forgotten,
My Childhoods lost,

Going to the lake,
Sitting on the beach,
Playing with friends,
or dancing in the streets,

I can't remember,
The crash in the fog,
My childhood was forgotten,
My childhood was lost,

The doctor doing surgery,
Me getting pills,
I can't remember any of it,
None of it's clear,

I still can't remember,
How it is gone,
My childhood forgotten,
My childhood's lost!

Well I'm gonna end it right now,
I gonna kill myself off,
A childhood Forgotten,
A childhood lost.

I knew someone in high school who killed themselves. It had a lasting impression on me because I had spoken to him the day before and he was complaining about his girl friend and their new son and how he had to drop out of school to get a job. I didn't know or understand that he was actually depressed and I wish I had. This is a good poem, our childhood was meant to be lived and enjoyed and not lost.

Wow, this is sad. Unfortunately you are the voice many children that did not get to experience childhood because it was taken from them.

the whole thing's good and sad and effective and all, but the ending's kinda off for me. i was kinda expecting that that would be the last line and didn't really make a great crashing impact.
though you can make this into a song, you know :)

Wow, I was liking this and relating a little to this poem, but the ending threw me off a little. I'm not big on suicide/killing. Like I have told others before you are here for a reason, we just have to find that reason and live and share.
Tragic and very touching piece.
Very nice work

The end of this poem really shocked me. I wasn't expecting it! I really liked the crash in the fog line; to me it almost had double meaning. As in crashing a car in the fog but also it paint’s a picture that the person’s life had crashed and has since seen life through a fog. Thanks for sharing

I heard abouts someone who committed suicide at the high school near where I live. It was so tragic and sad... If only they realized that God would never put them through something they can't handle. And He's always there to help them out along the way. I always feel really sad when it comes to this subject. I just hate hearing about people giving up already. God a whole plan for their life and dying so soon wasn't part of it. This was a very emotional poem and it was touching. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sending me the Read Requests, by the way. I was actually excited to see them. You can send me more anytime! :)
