Beast

Beast

A Poem by Jessica Neves

Looking in the mirror,

There it was.

With its scaly skin,

And tangled up hair.

A beast it was,

Hearing the screams of all who saw.

Feeling abandoned,

It grew hatred and rage,

Ripping apart anything in the way.

A beast it was,

Hiding in a place so dark,

It’s like being lost in a dream.

The fear it puts in those it scorns,

Somehow made it feel alive.

But all alone in that darkness,

The beast is no more than you and I.

Once more it looks into the mirror,

But this time you see no beast,

But a broken girl,

Who has been taken apart,

By the world.

No one realizes that if you look in her eyes,

You see sorrow in her soul.

Pain so magnificent,

That any real beauty disappears,

The beast is beautiful.

I think there is a lot of talent in your work, and you should keep writing! I do, however, think you should help your flow with the breakup of your poem into sections, if you like.
