Little Beautiful Beast

Little Beautiful Beast

A Poem by Katie Foutz Voss

Calm down, little beautiful beast.
Dragons are plenty pretty
but they breathe fire
in anger, or sadness,
or absolute joy.
No one's saying
to huff out that happiness
just be careful
not to burn yourself
or crisp your comrades
and seriously, for the sake
of every living creature
cover your toothy smile
when you cough.
