Heart Break

Heart Break

A Poem by Jex
"

It isn't always sunshine and rainbows. Sometimes it's cruel.

"
Love is heart break
 It is Deaf,
It is blind
Foolish... Addictive... Sinful
Leaving you gasping desperately for air,
Wanting nothing more then its addictive taste, so tangible on your lips
Madly clawing at yourself trying to escape
Running, Running... To it? Away from it?
Lighting a fire in our veins, burning us to the depths of our core.
The desire... so strong... So immoral, lustful even.
We are willing to be broken.
Beaten!, Shattered! Torn to pieces!
And For what?
Why?
Why are we willing to surrender everything we are,
To be vulnerable, exposed, Defenseless, Naked?
Only for this one feeling of pleasure... This one emotion
Willing to abandon everyone, sacrifice everything... everything you are
Just to have the longing sensation that is love
Pining so earnestly for something that may never even really be there.
Knowing that in our hearts it may not even be worth it.
That it isn't worth it.
Falling for something that will fade away,
Simply lost and maybe never to be found again
You can say it over and over again,
I love you,
I love you!
I LOVE YOU!,
But no matter how many time you say it,
To have that little piece of Mind
You can't see it, You can't touch it, Can't feel it.
Love's control so strong, thinking about it all the time,
It's sheer power altering and defining our lives.
And for what?
It's still unpredictable, unstable, delicate..
Easy to throw away.
Is it because We reach for more, becoming greedy to satisfy a hunger that will never fade.
Till there is nothing left?
We accept the love we think we deserve.
But s what we deserve worth it?
Is it what we need?
Is it Right?
Is it Wrong?
Somethings never work,
Maybe its better to just throw it away
Never to have again?
Why isn't Love always Enough?

This is an interesting perspective on love. Personally, I've fallen in love many times, and I believe it is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all. The people I love provide me with inspiration and hope. They restore my faith in humanity. One of my loved ones died in 2015, and I can always treasure that relationship as perfect. He is my dead boyfriend. He will never be an ex to me because we had another date scheduled for the day after he died. Strangely, breakups hurt more than the death of a partner. With death, there's a certain type of peace.

I was in an emotionally abusive relationship for five years, but thankfully, my love for him wasn't as strong as my love for my first love, who turned out to be asexual. My first love gave me a gift, and that gift protected me from future damage. As much as it hurt to lose my first love, he is a shining example of a human to me, and knowing him helps me to hold my other partners to a higher standard.

I lost someone else more recently, and I still hope to find him again someday. I leave room for both him and my first love in my life by being polyamorous. He is a source of inspiration for my current story.

One way or another, I've learned something from all my partners, even the emotionally abusive one. I look at all relationships as a learning experience. Even if it doesn't last, knowing others intimately enhances my experience as a human.

I really enjoyed this take on what love is and how hurtful it can be. Because you are completely right, love can ruin lives just as easily as it can make them better. I think my only suggestion would be to break up some of the longer lines and perhaps not have as many question marks. Overall I don't really have any negative feedback, just those two tiny suggestions. Whether you take them to heart or not, this is a wonderful poem that I thoroughly enjoyed.
