The Picture Perfect Cage

The Picture Perfect Cage

A Poem by J Lee
"

Some people get so caught up in economic status that they miss out on some of life's wonderful things

"
Part of him was screaming,
Just dying to get out.
At first it was her walk, the way she carried herself about.

He watched her from a distance.
Wondering about her life.

He might keep her around
but he'd never make her a wife.

Cause she was never meant for keeps,
And he was bound to throw her away.
Cause she was just some damaged goods.
And that was never gonna change.

But she never shed a tear.
Somehow her heart remained intact.
And if you asked her bout regrets
She'd say "Don't ever look back,
I've always been free
and the world has been my stage.
And I'd rather live and die alone,
Than with a man in a picture perfect cage."

I loved this. Reminds me of how I think now. When your words bring memories to people it means they have great power. You've done well.

AMEN!!

The ending is my theme in life. To say I loved this is an understatement and this is going in my bookshelf. I would love to read more. You have me hooked. I would love to critique and point out mistakes but I see none.

Thanks for a great read to end my night on.

I actually really liked the ending. I think many of us feel that way: we would rather be free and imperfect, instead of being a slave with a partner who gives us all the riches we could ask for.
