A Letter to My Heart

A Letter to My Heart

A Poem by Jo
"

It's never to late to change your mind.

"
Beware
The enemy comes
Hiding in the shadows
Creeping undercover of the darkness
Boring tunnels through unguarded defenses
Distracting with confusion and mistrust
Feeding on allusions to the past
Spreading like a parasitic fungus

But, don't fear
When I realize what I have allowed
I will scoop you out of my flesh
With both hands I'll lift you up
Present you to the Living God
And You will be revived

I do not understand the last line? I am confused by it! I do not know exactly who "You" pertains to?

The enemy? Is the enemy being revived to wholesomeness? as is in renewal? or just to go back to whence he came before he attacked you.

A beautiful poem with a lot of emotions! Loved it!

I love this, though I don't know what it's about. Love the use of language, "Feeding on allusions to the past, Spreading like a parasitic fungus." Dark yet playful. Very good, my kind of poem.

Beautiful writing, I think anyone who reads this can take their own interpretation from it, because the words have such strong emotions in them. Starts off feeling quite bleak and sad, the hopelessness of fighting a lost war, but then things take a turn for the better and ends on a positive note. Nicely done :)
