War

War

A Poem by Jodie
"

This is a poem about a wife who's husband goes away to fight in the war. It's kind of expressing her feelings.

"
The darkest feeling,
eating away.
How can I face,
another day?

Sitting and waiting,
hoping and not.
Wishing both ways,
But for what?

There's letters no more,
but also no news.
Which conclusion,
should I choose?

Is he now dead?
Is he dying right now?
The thought gives me pain,
too much pain to allow.

How can I live like this,
with silence every day?
How can I make it,
so it isn't this way?

How do I escape,
from these terrible thoughts,
of him lying dead.
Or in a hospital bed.

The darkest feeling,
eating away.
How can I face,
another day?

You really gave us the feeling of waiting...beautifully demonstrated! Very talented!

I'm sure a lot of military wives would really connect with this. The heartache and quiet desperation is felt in this.

I could feel the dreaded feeling of emotions in your poem...the frightening reality of someone knocking on the door with bad news....you conveyed the feelings very well...Rose
