Revolution?

Revolution?

A Poem by CJ1878
"

History tells of many revolutions but were any actually successful?

"

Malevolent self-preservation,
From leaders of a nation
has always led to mass deprecation.
But to deprecate is only step one,
next comes a coherent demonstration of what
needs to be done.

‘Revolution, Revolution!’ cry the people on the streets,
‘Let us march to our oppressors and remove them from their seats!’
So the oppressors are deposed by the peasant heroes
who themselves assume the roles of the freshly overthrown.
Promises to represent led to this heady ascent
but their initial precedent proves distinctly transient.

Power’s come full circle, from deprecate to replicate.
It appears there’s a glass ceiling,
Or revolution has just one meaning.
