Half a Heart

Half a Heart

A Poem by CJ1878

Before we find love what is the heart doing?

Does it know that love is coming?
Are its beats the sound of drumming,
preceding a cacophony of heart strings strumming?

No.

The ribcage locks the heart away; all it has it hope.
Is each beat a plea? A demand?
Nope.

The heart is asking questions,
it's lonely in the dark.
It asks where's its companion,
that's why half a heart's a question mark.
