Hunger in Africa

Hunger in Africa

A Poem by Nwaeze Joshua

It scars your tongue
It rips at your skin
Your eyes lit ablaze
Sometimes you don't mind an empty plate
the humming sounds
the soft tears
You swallow your tongue
Unrest ripples through

We forget some kids try so hard to eat
We forget bodies sleep below, because of this
Sometimes I forget, how hard is it to remember!!
To the sleeping bodies below, I cry because we could have done better

Yesterday is not ours to recover but today's for us to win.
