Pond Lily

Pond Lily

A Poem by Joshua Rawlins
"

A short poem I wrote for my sister.

"
With thick
White, spotless petals
It sticks

To the slippery stillness
And spills its succour

To black flies
Under
Blue skies

In the humid heat
Of the sweating sun.

The looming green rim
Approaches while
Silvery fish swim;

One swallows an emerald amphibian
Aiming for it's reflection

And ripples with it's tail,
Causing the loss of
A frail

Snow petal. It drifts away
From the pure pale pupil

Of the watery hollow.
A single snow petal,
More to follow.
