River of Red

River of Red

A Poem by Kitty

Blood flows from the cuts.
Bright red blood.
It trickles down
Staining everything it touches.
Blood everywhere.
A red river
That will never stop flowing
Until its banks are dry.
Red.
The colour of anger.
The colour of love.
Love?
What is this strange sensation?
Why does it cause so much pain?
Why does it cause
This red river to flow?
When will it stop?
Will it ever stop?
Yes.
When its banks run dry…

Such a beautifully dark and powerful work! Haunting in every way... That blood flows like a river, running full of life until all is bled dry. Brilliant and deep!
