Forever in Darkness

 

Forever in darkness

Is where I will be,

Because to step out into the light,

Just isn’t me.

 

I have tried and tried again

To be who I’m not,

But heartache at the end of the road

Is all I got.

 

I remove any dark thoughts

That roam through my head,

But instead of feeling better

I just wish harder that I were dead.

 

Happiness is just a stage in life,

One that’s not too keen on me.

The smiles and laughter just silhouettes

Behind which no one cares to see.

 

Tears trickle down

My already tear-stained face.

What is wrong with me?

Why am I such a disgrace?

 

I try to do good,

Try to think only happy thoughts,

But yet in this downward spiral of pain, sorrow and darkness

Is where I am caught.

 

The light of day

Seems to be too good for me,

So forever in darkness

Is where I will be…
