Arizona Night

Arizona Night

A Poem by Jqjohnson

Rock formations touching the sky
Breath of the air is hot and dry
Chemical burns have painted the sand
What have they done to our beautiful land

Cold, dark, Arizona night
Stars have come back into sight
Faded away is the ancient time
All that's left is yours and mine

All connections lost to the world
Fallout came and nations were swirled
Here I sit with a mug in my hand
Staring at the nocturnal sand

Cold, dark, Arizona night
Stars have come back into sight
Faded away is the ancient time
All that's left is dirt and grime

The people start to rebuild
Cities are drugged, all hope is killed
Uranium sunset on the horizon
The aim of the game is to kill and frighten

Destruction spreads in the western sky
Nowhere else to go and hide

Listen to the fire

Cold, dark, Arizona night
Stars have come back into sight
Faded away is the ancient time
Say goodbye to most of mankind

"Chemical burns have painted the sand

You wrote about the destruction of Arizona, and with the words you created, I feel the land's pain...
