What's Good for You

What's Good for You

A Poem by Judy Ponceby
"

Cough, cough.....

"
Sugar sweet,
Medicine vile.
Mom's so mean
Full of bile.

She always says
now be good.
Gives me meds.
I misunderstood.

This is good?
In what way?
"I'm fine!" I shout.
Throughout the day.

The cough has gone.
The fever fled.
Now leave me mother
I dread that med!

Horrid flavor,
Wretched taste
Makes me shudder
Worse than paste!

Mom's just smilin'
Spoon at the ready.
Knowing better,
"C'mere, Freddy."

She's so mean,
I don't know why.
She used to love me
In days gone by.

Laughing, love it - this brings back memories, really does. You've made me think back smiling .. didn't do that at the time though. Lovely piece of fun, and fine meter, Judy!

The voice here is brilliant. And the b,d rhyme just reinforces the fun. As Frank James Davis writes "charmingly amusing."

Yucky-tasting medicine----run!
Yeah, I'm still mad at my mom over that. I'm kidding, of course, although it's a pretty good bet that yucky-tasting medicine in my day was waaaaay yuckier than todays'.
