A Poem by Judy Ponceby
"

For Creative Poetry...

"

The deep rounded walls with shelf upon shelf of books,

a coliseum holding the eternal spirits of word warriors.

Each book burning with desire
to be read.

To be chosen with affection.

To share its bounty
of knowledge.

To soothe the weary soul
with poetic words.

To clinch the reader's interest
with murder most vile.

To set the heart in flame
with lust and love.

This bastion of tomes
held dear by every bibliophile.

A lifting anthem that i love to hear! I love books and libraries, and hope they will be around with their bounty for generations to come!

You use another's words fairly... Is it a challenge, a club? Developing the ability to tie words into thoughts and to expand a vocabulary is important for any writer.

I loved this write. I love bookstores and libraries. I love to read as well as write. Poetry does soothe the soul. This was very well written. Sorry for the delay in the review.

Shhhhhhhhh Frank! Don't tell anyone I was president of the library club in high school. Might ruin my rep, ya know :) LOL

To a guy who was once a world-class reader and, subsequently, a collector--as well as buyer-and-seller of better books--this is a much-appreciated offering, Judy.
Great poem! (Thanks, you latent librarian, you.)
