Sinister Crimson

Sinister Crimson

A Poem by Judy Ponceby

Within this crimson,
opalescent phial entwined
with metallic vine slumbers
death's grim visage.

A few drops
laced in wine or tea
produces sinister
hallucinations
and
searing agony.

To be used so
sparingly,
only in greatest
need
to avoid discovery
of secrets harbored.

I tuck the phial away.

He never knew
how close he was to
agonizing death
by my hand.

Yikes! Remind me never to make you angry. I'm reminded of Edgar Allen Poe, sinister and dark, oh beating heart stop it's pounding in mine ears. I don't think he ever wrote that, but I thought it sounded fun.

Wrap me up a bottle to go...should I drink it fast or slow? Just a few drops in the coffee or tea... would not be nearly enough for me...on second thought I think I lied...do you happen to have any cyanide?

Heh-heh. Mr. Poe and you could have had some diabolically good times. You're on Sam's list of favorite poets.

Wow! Perfect for Halloween. You really have a good handle on the sinister.
