Is it Foolish...

Is it Foolish...

A Poem by MsJewel

Is it foolish to think

he should think of me?

as a pale moon sits idle in the sky

as if to haunt the lonely dream

of a kiss half remembered

Should I sing or sigh or cry

as all the pretty pleasures of those days of sweetness vanish

like ashes on the wind

leaving me once again undone

soiled

from a touch forever fading

Or shall I wait…grasping at dawn in pink and white linen

as ribbons of hope weave sunbeams

through the daisies in the window box

meticulously stripped of lacy white petals

"He loves me, he loves me not…"

now only an echo that really has no place in a lonely dream

And when she spreads her hair upon his pillow

is it foolish to think...

                                                            he should think of me?

I adore this piece. I think almost anyone can relate to this...

"And when she spreads her hair upon his pillow
is it foolish to think...
he should think of me?"- The sad tones of wistful longing really came through. Probably my favorite piece from you so far...

How foolish we are as women when it comes to our heartstrings, this tells that tale so elegantly Julie, even your bittersweet poetry is so polished and gracefully written.

Thank you Frieda! :) Julie
this is lovely yet plaintive - melancholy - and the ache of loss is palpable. You've captured that feeling so well - losing someone who once loved you - to someone else and wondering if you cross that person's mind as that person crosses yours. To be so immersed in a relationship - when it dies a part of you dies with it - just a little. I found this relevant - as I am one of those who struggles to "let go fully"

Thank you for your lovely comment on my poetry today. I appreciate you and your friendship. :) Julie
The questions so many women ask themselves.....will he still be kissing my lips in his dreams even as he kisses hers in reality? So much regret and longing in this one. "a kiss half remembered" such a gloriously bittersweet line, Julie! Great writing. Lydi**

The brilliance of this poem manifests itself with the lingering question of the other woman.
She now shares his bed but does he still think of you..... He loves me he loves me not daisies all stripped of their petals looking for the answers. My God woman you are an incredible talent. This is now my very favorite of your poems. Love the picture. L.y.t. Trace
