Red

Red

A Poem by MsJewel

photograph compliments of janedoe.com

Through pastel skies and sunlit beams

and fluffy clouds and autumn dreams

a leaf fluttered as warm wind blew...

My fragile heart it fluttered too

Through brilliant dawns and pearly dews
and pumpkin scents and gorgeous hues
of bright rainbows above my head
and leaves that fell in brilliant red

As autumn fades slowly from sight
and paints the sky her soft twilight

tree branches bend, lonely above

no shades of warmth, no shades of love

And rising winds that once blew warm
now with a chill take all the charm
of the season, now gone from sight...
An autumn moon hangs low tonight

So as I watch the changing sky
I shiver as the snowflakes fly
but I think I will dream instead
of warmer hues in shades of red

It is quite wild the color that starts this poem, but how it seems to end in grey, and sadness. I loved the start, and though Autumn is not my favorite time of the year, as it is when life is going to sleep, it is a colorful time. It is also a romantic time of year. Forest walks, leaves underfoot, a chill in the air so you have to cuddle close to a companion. then winter falls. All that's left is the dream. I liked it. Well written.

Thank you for your lovely comment. I look forward to reading your poetry. :) Julie
There is so much to enjoy in this piece my friend, but sadly, much to lament as well. But you way you've interspersed the underlying pain with such incredible imagery gives birth to a sense of hope, maybe a better and less lonely future. Loneliness was the first emotion I took from this piece, which probably has a lot to do with me as the reader. But again, you've painted it with such a feast of colours and images that it's hard to dwell on it, and the hope it relays is infectious. Great work Julie :)

Thank you for your very kind comment my sweet friend. Have a beautiful day :) Julie
My favorite lines are:

“a leaf fluttered as warm wind blew...
My fragile heart it fluttered too”

Falling leaves can be so piquant for the imaginative mind and can by symbolic of so much.

The poem in its entirety is lovely, dressed in shades of red.

Thank you for your wonderful comment LInda! :) Julie
I read this four times that they say three times a charm
This was a charm the first second third and fourth time
It assaults the senses A virtual cornucopia sight smells colors
Is absolutely gorgeous it feels like a broken heart A little bit blue
Tinged with red
A picture is also beautiful still not as beautiful as beautiful as this poem
Much respect
Chloe

You're welcome and you also have a beautiful day Julie take good care
I envision a woman whose love has gone, perhaps she is a widow, who has experienced all the life and color that love can bring to someone's life and now has only the loneliness and cold of winter to look forward to. But she has decided to warm her heart with the fire of the memories of her love, now gone but not forgotten. Your poem is very beautiful, Julie. I think it's terrific!

dear Julie... absolutely exquisite ...
and painted with soft strokes of
passion's fire to warm our hearts
for many moons. Snow flakes
arrive like a ballet of tender
after glow that linger in our soul.
truly a masterpiece and minuet
of lovers smiles. as ever...
Your fan... Pat
