Red

Red

A Poem by MsJewel

photograph compliments of janedoe.com

Through pastel skies and sunlit beams

and fluffy clouds and autumn dreams

a leaf fluttered as warm wind blew...

My fragile heart it fluttered too

Through brilliant dawns and pearly dews
and pumpkin scents and gorgeous hues
of bright rainbows above my head
and leaves that fell in brilliant red

As autumn fades slowly from sight
and paints the sky her soft twilight

tree branches bend, lonely above

no shades of warmth, no shades of love

And rising winds that once blew warm
now with a chill take all the charm
of the season, now gone from sight...
An autumn moon hangs low tonight

So as I watch the changing sky
I shiver as the snowflakes fly
but I think I will dream instead
of warmer hues in shades of red

It is quite wild the color that starts this poem, but how it seems to end in grey, and sadness. I loved the start, and though Autumn is not my favorite time of the year, as it is when life is going to sleep, it is a colorful time. It is also a romantic time of year. Forest walks, leaves underfoot, a chill in the air so you have to cuddle close to a companion. then winter falls. All that's left is the dream. I liked it. Well written.

This is so beautiful
you have a perfect eight count pattern that a lot of people dont realize makes your poetry flow so wonderfully
it is almost like a Julie trademark.

Its hard to imagine that we are still in Autumn because it is 20 degrees here and snowing
but this poem seemed to warm me up with the soft and colorful sentiment.

Simply lovely my friend. Trace

Yes, shades of red....warm and wonderful feelings overtook me as I read your words in this one, Julie. The imagery is incredible. The cadence of your words and the rhyme is spectacular in this one. Kudos! Saving it to my library. Lydi**

Nobody can paint Autumn more beautiful than you can you always capture it so beautifully. When the breath of summer leaves us before the frost settles in. :) Larry
