~ a romantic scribble ~

 

    

With every breath, with every sigh

we chase moonlight

soft are the moonbeams

            just out of reach

 

You…with your midnight eyes

and me…weak from your loveliness

longing for the veil to lift

                        aching to taste joy

 

                  waiting in the darkness

with no other light except that which is you

burning in my soul

like the soft flame of a lighted match

moving south

with every breath, with every sigh

                                                but just out of reach….

 

                        and still,

                                                we chase moonlight
