Because Of a Boy

Because Of a Boy

A Poem by Just Plain Me

I'm hiding behind my laughs,
hiding the pain with smiles.
Pretending my tears are of joy,
pretending the tears aren't because of a boy.

Sadly no one sees that it's not okay,
that I blame myself everyday.
Whether I deserved it or not doesn't matter,
because of a boy, my confidence shattered.

I thought I was immune to this pain,
immune to emotional drain.
Never once did I think I would cry like I am,

never once did I think a boy could fool me with a sham.

we never get over it. I'm 30 and shadows of old relationships still ride my a*s like a bad rash.
We know we don't deserve it, but we keep wearing it like a badge of regret.

F**k em. They'll get theirs eventually.

I Dig it

I love the flow of this and the subject is amazing and strong. I too once thought I had that immunity, I honestly don't think anyone does.
