Waiting in Hell

Waiting in Hell

A Poem by K.C. Zbryk
"

have you ever been powerless?

"

Panic sets in as the missing

Is discovered to be such

Not in place

Out of the environment

Everything that gave me reason is gone

All the points to stay clear

Have become muddied

Leaving me to my reactionary nature

The extrovert becomes enraged

Yet trapped in this minute space

While the introvert

Converges in on himself

In the fetal position

Silent

I yell and thrash about my space

Demanding an answer

Attempting to resolve this exaggerated emergency

But I may as well have collared myself

Locked myself away

For all the good I can do here

And this just fuels the fire

The lack of able intervention

Eats at my psyche

There is no planning to resolve

There is just stewing in the wake of the missing

If I could plan I could be calm

If there was an action to take

I would

But there is nothing

To do but wait and yell

At whomever I can

Demanding they do what they can

Due to my entrapment

Jenny where are you…

So many emotions overtake us
and time just expands to infinity
and yes - it doesn't change or lessen
...we just - await.

Oh, this is the sweetest love poem on earth! The magic is in the last line but to reach it, you wrote the perfect stanzas. I so know this feeling. I have lived it for more than four years. My freedom is in writing the prose I write. I don't want to link my writing to anything--least of all whether I get reviews or not--and most of all to whether I get published or not. I think connecting our writing to some tangible benefit just ruins the importance of expressing ourselves artistically even if we're expressing pain or confusion or a debilitating dilemma. This is a beautifully written piece of poetry that highlights the need for the soul-mate and the significance of the soul-mate. This has to be one of my favourites out of all that you've written. There's such earnestness in your poetic voice that it's overwhelming.
