Sleep Softly

Sleep Softly

A Poem by K.C. Zbryk

Close those tired eyes

Lay your head down and rest

These are harrowing times

Draining us of all warmth it seems

Vampiric nights wrap us in their cold embrace

And yet

We still remain

Left to wander on, seeking

Starlight in the overcast evening

Close your tired eyes my sweet

Let your gentle lips part

And breathe easy in the cool air

I will return soon

And we can put the ache behind us

Sleep softly stay hidden from the silent

Pain radiating from the world around us

Close your tired eyes my love

And dream of a better place

Slip away to a warmer current

And let yourself fly

Wow! Exquisite poetry! You are an extremely versatile poet. This was like a gentle and melodious whisper that was magical -- it calmed fears and apprehensions.
