Sickly Beloved Parasite Syndrome

Sickly Beloved Parasite Syndrome

A Poem by K.C. Zbryk

Hollow eyes opened to the evening

And there was something abnormal below the surface

Some new feeling had grown during the resting hours

Bringing light to the eyes momentarily dimmed

There was still an uneven dread that coated his emotional state

But this he could cope with for now

He could embrace the state if necessary

And he couldn’t help but notice, this new state felt nice

He relished the glow it left on the evening sun

And the new subtle flavors it left to his cigarette smoke

That shifted so elegantly in the fading light

Mimicking the movement of his thoughts

Slow curling, moving in on themselves

Revolving and expanding

Only to fade to nothing on the breeze

Momentary passing and beautiful

He wanted some way to record all the conversations

Inside his head and out as well, find the fragments

Of genius in each passing comment and thought

That happened to form in this state

He felt awake and consumed to find the source

The flow of information, the stories

The dreams and nightmares that compel,

That drive, this flow of civilization

He felt something different and molten in this state

A deviant caustic form of energy

That seems to drive it’s subject to thirst

For all things that are warped and bent

The unexposed unexplored abnormal

Pieces that seem to dwell in the simplest conversations

The things that make everything seem connected

When nothing seems related

The dreams, the spirituality, the fragments

He wants to converse on the topics

That seem to have no merit

Because in his opinion

Everything else seems to be lacking merit

As is

So he would prefer to lace the current thought

With his own interests and philosophies

Because these hollow eyes have seen too many things

And he would rather not rehash an old subject

during an episode one does really find connections that are unrelatable. there is also some hidden meaning that only the person sees and no one else. 'dreams, spirituality and fragments' really are what is really important...there are moments of clarity even in the midst of madness. you're really on about the state of mind of someone in such an emotional state. excellent piece.
