Dream

Dream

A Poem by Brave New World

We dream caffeine dreams

We hope and scream

We hang off of construction beams

When you became some-thing

I became no-thing

Fed off each other

Ate for pleasure

We have so many words

Emotions fly like birds

(BUT DON’T YOU KNOW?)

It’s all a dream

Black and white like caffeine

But sometimes, it’s a nightmare

Flared like your hair

Cigarette butts; nicotine nightmares

Locked in imaginative lairs

But, don’t you know?

That smoke will always flow?

Down rivers of imagination

Selling sex and salvation

(AND)

Words will die

Where sleeping dogs die

(CUZ)

Every step fo-ward is a step back

When you get down to it, you don’t know jack

(YOU WILL LEARN)

That smoke was just a haze

Your emotions were just a daze

(THEN YOU FIND)

The bags are packed

And you’re coming back

A house is a home

When it’s not locked in a dome

Of words that were no-thing

And looks that were some-thing

(ALAS)

You’re not the boss

You’re name is lost

Believe me, I tried

Hello/Good-bye
