Goodbye

This was for my boyfriend when he left to go overseas.

Today's the day we say goodbye

And I'm still trying to work out why

I didn't know you for very long 

But could tell our bond was very strong

 

I remember when we met that night

The moment that you first caught my sight

We sat and talked and enjoyed a drink

And all the while I was beginning to think

 

I realised I had a lot to gain

As I began to wonder when I'd see you again

We became close in no time at all

I knew you would catch me if I was to fall

 

I remember each time we hung out

We would have fun without a doubt

The feeling I had was all brand new

As I began to learn more about you

 

You were sweet and kind and protected me

You had my heart, I gave you the key

You made me laugh no matter what mood I was in

I fell in love with your cheeky grin

 

I remember the day you said you had to leave

It was news that was so hard to recieve

I found it hard not to shed a tear

Knowing I wouldn't see you for a year

 

As I stand here and watch you drive away

Wishing so much that you could stay

I regretted that all we'd been through

I never told you that I loved you
