VAMPYRE

VAMPYRE

A Poem by K. J. Lucas

I was sired, delivered and born screaming

An emotional orphan with no heart of her own

Everything I touch I know turns to dust

I have no love and therefore trust only lust

I have no nationhood,  live in a free state

Betrothed,  belonging to everyone and no-one

A sense of attachment, fielty, and loyalty

Only to wherever I plant my winged feet

Where you hear laughter, family  and friends

I hear only a stirring symphony of silence

I am a creature of darkest velvet night

Feasts on the air of the dying light

Your Sun is My Moon and My Sun your Moon

I am a traveller in both space and time

I can taste the Time,  and savour the flavour

When the only space is what I have between words

Nothing for me lasts longer than one day

It is an illusion, the trickery of Time

There is no history, and there is no past

I have no time present nor even time future

I exist in a cascade carnival of smoke and mirrors

Cast no shadow, silhouette, and have no reflection

I know no fear nor pain,  and can never die

Live now and  forever, so join me, join me, join me!

What an engaging read, like a whilrwind it took me and made me go round and round. I got slightly confused with the images though but better ask. The archetype of the vampire is based on the man who trusted God and his enemies as a sign of vengance killed his beloved. He entrusted from that day to never let his love die and hence he remains a dead man walking. In here the associations are of enchanting proposition as his longetivity would assume no integration, no belief , no unity , a sense of apathy and finally a sensless journey of sorts when in fact that would be the absolute opposite of the original intention. His dead will ony come when he accepts the dead in the material. In here is the material which is killing the love.

How creative!

Thankyou

This was amazing! Loved reading this poem! I'm not really an expert on poetry so I can't really see anything to improve, but it was very enjoying to read!

Many thanks for your comments :)
Life or an existisance like this must be awfully boring, think I'll skip on the offer !

A superbly crafted, imaginative and expressively penned poem on old 'Nostferato' himself, splendid indeed !
