Mermaid

Mermaid

A Poem by K. Kappele

Your love was like the ocean
I was swept away and drowned.
lungs burning,
eyes blinded,
Bliss taking over.

I was comforted by your gentle rock,
I grew,
I thrived.
You turned me into a mermaid;
dependent on your wrath and mystery
Gently I was pushed back to shore.

Thrusted on land I was gasping for breath,
Chest tight,
Fist fulls of sand.
The Realization"
                             sinking feeling returned once again
I had forgotten how to"
                                      Breathe.
