Happy Birthday to You

Happy Birthday to You

A Poem by SPINNING ON that dizzy edge

Today's your birthday

I was there

You are mine.

Pieces of you

are from my heart,

my mind and my soul.

Today I will tell you again

about the day you were born.

How when your eyes met mine

and I was lost - forever.

Tiny red red face

all pinched and mad

at the world.

Today I will tell you again

how love that is given

is love that comes back

many times over.

Big eyes that still trust me

as one who knows

what is in your heart,

your mind and your soul.

I know.

I am there.

12/31/07 for Hilary

Love, Mom

I cannot imagine a more cherished birthday gift than a poem from mother to daughter such as this. What a wonderful poem! I hope she has this stashed safely away in the place where she keeps her most special treasures when she is 80.

What a splendid birthday present. Words from the heart and soul.

as one who knows
what is in your heart,
your mind and your soul.
I know.
I am there.

Lovely to think that our loved ones are part of us, that they are in everything we do, means we never lose them.
