Mrs. Friday

Mrs. Friday

A Story by SPINNING ON that dizzy edge

There is a lady that I always just called Mrs. Friday because that is how I saw her and when I saw her. It started out about 5 yrs ago when she was looking for some change and I just said, I don't have change but I have this buy one get one coffee thing, would you like one... and well, long story short (and you know, there is a story to tell here) I see her most Fridays and when it is nice, we sit and sometimes talk, sometimes only sit and take in the people walking around the area. I bring her baked goods (she confessed a sweet tooth) or these red mittens that matched a big scarf she wears nearly year-round or I've brought her different other things over time.  It just became this friendship....) well, the red mittens got to her and she hugged me - that was the first time other than maybe an accidental graze that we had ever touched....) she told me I meant the world to her - can you imagine?   Maybe we would visit a half hour a week - not even a little conversation some days if she seemed, well not wanting to talk or she would take the crackers or muffin I brought her for later because so many times she told me she already ate.  But if I just had a quarter that she needed for a bus transfer.... she would be so grateful.... just this once...  So when she said that about true kindness being magical - it just blew me away..... wow - I am still in the wow factor!

Will add more here - when I am done with the wow.....

Thanks, dear friend, for suggesting these words were worth sharing.....

Kath

Definitely continue... this is a heartwarming story; simple giving with no further expectations placed on the recipient. I agree with Ken... lessons to be learned here. Lessons for all of us, including Mrs. Friday. Near the end you write, "So when she said that about true kindness being magical"... I found myself asking, "when she said what?" A little clarification here (or before) may help. I think this is the beginning to a wonderful story...look forward to reading more. :)
