a poem about helping someone with crippling depression

Saving You, killing me

Why was I so arrogant to think

I could save you from the brink

of that illness and make you okay

and make you see a brighter day

Just put on some good tunes and dance

Tidying up whilst having a good prance

was my stupid advice, not having a clue

of what exactly you were going through

Volunteer there's a good idea I said

Not knowing the thoughts going on in your head

Put on a smile, have a laugh, watch friends

How could I ever make amends

Now you seem to have got well

you hit rock bottom when you fell

It's great that you have fought this fight

I hope that you sleep better at night

This poems short but your illness long

Such a good person, it seemed so wrong

Helped you through for years and years

Trying to smile through all the tears

Now it's my turn to have dark days

I can't tell you now you see the suns rays

Couldn't bring you down that way

So I just have to sit and pray

that someday it will go away

Yes this is a real depiction of this day we live where many struggle and it is more clear than in time past when people kept many things of a personal nature hidden.
This reads like a journal or a letter. I like it!

I was out last night with a fella who is suffering with depression, brought on by being caught cheating on his wife and not being able to cope with the guilt he now feels. Quite sad hearing him pouring his heart out and not being able to do anything but lend an ear. Another well put together poem

It's an awful affliction depression, so many people suffer from it, it's torture I think. That's all you can really do is lend an ear, until the person is ready to do something to help themselves nothing you do will make any difference, very frustrating. thanks for comments Gee much appreciated
