Just wondering

Just wondering

A Poem by Onyx Sky

Just Wondering

I was young at a time
But not to young to see
How in love I thought you guys were

Mom and Dad
Sneaking kisses
Thinking
No one was watching

Family gossip leaking
Learning you guys spent every waking moment
With each other
When you were my age
So young, they’d say
But surely what you felt was real?

Afraid
To admit that I want some one
Need someone
Don’t think
I can ever let anyone
Into the diary of my life
Mom and Dad
You guys were my definition
I thought at one time
Definitions were truth

Kissing,
Both of you
At separate times
Each declaring how much you love
The knots that ties you two together
Why can’t we be the knot
That kept you loving one another?

This is interesting since it leaves questions about appearances. It gives the impression that we should not, perhaps, take all the displays of emotion at mere face value.

As far as critique goes I can offer only a few suggestions: you use the phrase "you guys" three times in the course of the poem, and in a piece so short that's a little repetitive (also it give the poem a younger feel - I'm not sure if that's what you're going for or not). The imagery could be a little stronger and more specific, too. It's good for what it is now, though - good job.
