End Credit

A Poem by Katie Kistler
"

Vaguely Lucy Dacus inspired because she makes me ~feel things~

"
who am I without you?
I don’t know
but you don’t know, either
bless your soul
been running since high school
running the show
curtain never comes down
clap real slow

but I don’t
I won’t be part of the applause
no, I won’t
finally felt the claws

and now the doubt sinks in
was it all just staged?
I wasn’t acting, baby
couldn’t see the fake
and were you even using your real name?
was it all improv class?
was it just a game?

I hope not
I won’t be part of the bows
you can take your roses
and leave me out

I was always meant to be an end credit
a footnote left in the dust
white lettering on a big black screen
that no one sticks around to see

"you can take your roses and leave me out"
excellent line and metaphor you carry throughout this write.
nicely done.

and just to let you know, there is someone who always stays for the credits and always has...me.
I always want to know who the key grip was.
