Changeover

Changeover

A Poem by Kay

Look at my breast, the veins are surfacing,

each time you whisper about another fate.

Perhaps the leaf, when it was circling,

was mislead by the wind’s devious weight

and brought you wrongly into my hold.

Why has the humanity gone from you,

stranding me naked in the arctic cold?

Have you already dropped the past we knew

like a marble tipped over from your grasp,

rocketing through the air, descending time,

splitting in a thousand shards while I gasp

for air, a victim of your beastly crime?

The light in your eyes fades to devil black,

as you slam my room door and leave a crack.

I am a teacher and speak of imagery in writing often. You do this quite well in your comparisons such as the leaf blowing in the wind and someone being wrongly brought to you. You have a style all of your own. I quite like it.
