Toes on the Edge

Toes on the Edge

A Poem by Kay
"

"Life is tough, but so are you."

"

When you stand with your toes on the edge,

what keeps you from jumping?

What keeps you from leaning forward

and letting everything behind you disappear?

What makes you ground yourself against the wind

as it nudges you towards the abyss?

Why, after wishing for this many times,

are you suddenly hesitant?

When it’s as easy as exhaling,

why do you hold your breath tightly now?

Everything is in place for you;

the end is only a few seconds away.

The prospect of ultimate, eternal silence

is within reach. So do it.

You begged for this.

Let - go.

But you don’t.

That little crumb inside you,

saves you.

No one really wants to die. They just want the pain to end.

I totally agree. Thank you for commenting. =)
Often, it is us who can save us from ourselves. Just doing something so easy, initially, isn't always as it seems. The conscience mind and the subconscious thoughts are at constant war with each other. You've captured such indecision in this piece. Great read.
