Full Description:
 This is something I wrote for an English project on The Crucible. My group all did something to do with the girls and their relationships with each other and the other villagers.
If you don't know The Crucible it is a play by Arthur Miller about the witchhunts which happened in Salem, Massachusetts, a long time ago in 1692 (about 323 years ago as of 2015), where a bunch of girls basicly made up that people were witches and accused them of enchantments. If the villagers lied and and 'confessed' that they were "witches" and wanted to repent they were spared but if they refused to lie and said they they were not a "witch" they were considered guilty and burned at the stake (well in the movie and the play they were hanged but in the real world and throughout history they were burned at the stake but you get my point right?).
 This poem is supposed to take place after the witch trials when people realized it was all a hoax and now the girls must live in the village with people whose relatives they helped kill.
Yeah, so pretty heavy stuff, but I'm quite please with the way it turned out. Tell me what you think.

Literature / Poetry / Human Nature / Free Verse
Black shapes crawl, not so distant; dreams
Let out from iron bars,
Escaped from labyrinths that live
Within our minds.
We are the accused now;
Not the dead whose innocence was roped,
Hung, from their necks, replaced by death
Who hugs them close.
We are the accused, the guilty;
Our futures waste, rot
In judgments conceived
Too late to save them.
We cannot unshackle our confines
Held in place with daggers thrown from eyes;
Beneath skin, we boil a slow demise.
We're the ones whom everybody knows
Are guilty.
We are the accused but we cannot be condemned.
We duped, we lied, and now we live
As a reminder, as their shame
Because they trusted us.
