LIVE SIMPLE!

LIVE SIMPLE!

A Poem by Kay Salisu Titilola
"

"What people have to know."

"

Laughing every time is madness,

Frowning every day is insane.

Life is never a pandemonium,

Neither is it a heavenly place.

Look around you as you walk on,

And you’ll see what life is actually made of.

For people are not meant to be forever sad,

Neither are they created to be happy always.

Life is too short to live in gloominess,

Yet, it doesn’t worth to be given all your smiles.

Never walk to fast, never travel too slow.

If you want to enjoy it, just live it so simple.

I agree with what you're saying & yet I'm not wholehearted about your way of saying it. To me, you come across as being a little haughty, as if you have attained the pinnacle & you think others should want to climb the same pinnacle as you. Inspirational writing, to me, should inspire, not dictate. SHOW me the scene & how it brings you joy, don't TELL me I should go seeking your avenue to joy. Let me see for myself if you can entice me with your way of walking, such that I will be inspired to walk a similar path. Nobody likes being told how to live. One way to avoid a preachy tone is to not use the pronoun "you" as if the poem is directed toward the reader. Using "we" can feel more inclusive, as if the narrator considers him/herself on a learning path toward betterment as well. Thanks for considering my point of view on this, since I've been pretty strong about my dislike of certain "inspirational" pieces (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
