Eternal Torment

Eternal Torment

A Poem by Juan Muniz

For centuries I've wandered in this meadow.
Never questioned my being there, lead by a path.
Followed it blindly, enjoying the view.
Ignorance was my bliss, for it was easy to behold.
One morning , a swirl of thoughts reigned the day
"Why am I here?" and many more

A sudden fear of the unknown,
Like as if something crawled out of its hole.
Always there, waiting to wake from its slumber.
Now I stand here staring at the horizon,
A beautiful mystery I discovered.
Like a song without lyrics, I lay bare.

This path now seems to fade,
The world telling me to roam as I desire.
Freedom was a feeling not a choice
Between countless possibilities,
Where is this soul's fate?
