Good Morning, I Love You

Good Morning, I Love You

A Poem by Juan Muniz

The world is tucked in, and we are snuggled up in its arms.

As the trees wander in secrecy, and the sky lies still, our bodies stay empty, waiting for the sun to spill.

Daylight caresses my face, giving me back control; the ability to stay awake, to recover what night stole.

As consciousness remembers the life I have, you are the only image that survives the nightmares of days past.

My voice reaches out, wanting to wake you from slumber. I sing a song, a gentle melody to make our love a summer.

A wish of the heart, only possible together. As it takes two, to become one, an unbreakable tether.

All I desire is to wake up forever, become your only other, and go to sleep never.

The only memory of night, is our farewell to the moon,
so that when the sun is born again darling, we can say:

"Good Morning, I Love You"
