The Path of a Sinner

The Path of a Sinner

A Poem by Guess

Who am I, but a sinner travelling alone...
Footprints both old & new litter the road
Yet no soul can be seen yonder
Eyes curious & anxious of what lurks ahead
Diverting away what is left behind

A voice-
A silent song that alleviates the guilt
With every turn the lyric becomes clearer
And yet the closer I draw, the more it becomes a whisper

Horns in the appearance of braided pigtails
Rose petal decorations on a black dress
A fool entranced by the deceptive visuals
A fool I am for obsessing over the precision of the image

She...It...
Intoxicates the air with just her presence
Fangs dripping poison- a scent so strong yet unnoticeable
The cost of indulging in such pleasures...
A cost that I'm aware, is far too great

Who is she, but the sin that guides me...

Well, we know what the wages of sin are. The speaker in this one seem to have a long trail of baggage. Strangely, though, I get the feeling there will be no turning over of a new leaf. Despite the dread, I don't think things will change.
