Love Lit Lantern

Love Lit Lantern

A Poem by Kelsey O'Connell
"

open for interpretation

"

A smoldering flame to outshine the rest.

The embers so warm, they burned through her chest.

Set loose among the stars to light the night sky,

Lust and avidity like flames in her eyes.

A simple touch makes her feel more alive,

As fire among air, she needs him to survive.

A tenacious passion illuminates her days,

She is blinded by greed; stuck in a somber haze.

She's taken for granted the luminous light,

Her love and her lantern did once provide.

An empty shell she tries to mend.

Torridness grows weak with time she spends.

The radiant lantern now in the past,

A brilliant love that would never last.

......how this didn't receive any reviews yet is beyond me! This is sublime! From the powerful imagery to the mellifluous musicality - this is marvellous. You have a couple of stanzas that I don't think convey entirely what you want to say, so I would suggest taking a look at those to see what you can do with them.....but all in all, I was moved by this. I was really drawn in and felt the magic that it emitted right down to the golden kicker of an ending. Well done!
