Christ Knows

Christ Knows

A Poem by Ken e Bujold

Taking a step back, I arrived

just in the nick of time

to find nothing much

as I expected.

An old face I should have recognized

grinning, greeted my confusion

with a shrug, nothing

much to say.

How things hang here,

where one stands

was a compass point

I’d have to choose myself.

The devil, it seems,

doesn’t sweat the details.
