Electric Romance

Electric Romance

A Poem by Kerberos

Electrified metal giants
Wading through fields
Phantoms on the windows
Racing to vanish
Dormant trucks lie in rows
Like sleeping bodies
Brooding diesel within
Bright specks smear the glass
Fireflies and street lamps
All cousins when the fleeing countryside
Lay behind them
Vulgar roadsides become poetry
The grass a great green sheet
Covering the sleeping earth
Houses become living creatures
Their souls in the porch-lights
From within a bus, all is beauty
Through the pavement runs
An electric romance
