Chapter 2

Chapter 2

A Chapter by Kirpet

Once back inside and with the sound barrier spell she began to yell fro Lu. But before she could call for him second time she noticed him standing infront of the fireplace. De hadn’t even noticed that it was ablaze before now with all the commotion that had been happening. De saw that Lus cloak was still sitting on the stove she walked over and grabbed it, then walked over to Lu and stood next to him infront of the fire. But before she spoke she noticed something on the ground, another body. A child, not even ten years old lay on the rug infront of the fireplace. De hadn’t noticed her when she first walked into the house because the girl had been blocked from Des site by the rooms one and only couch, which was now ruined. De took her eyes from the girl and looked at Lu, his face stone cold, and it was all he could to do keep his bottom lip from trembling in pure anger. The hand that held onto the man slung over his Lus shoulder was digging into the mans calve, De could see the mans pants slowly turning a darker shade of gray around the Lus fingertips, then a droplet of liquid fell from the mans pants and hit the floor, De knew that it was the own mans blood, and the flickering of the flames off the now droplets of blood on the floor assured her. De took her eyes from Lu and knelt down next to the small girl, she place the back of her hand to the girls cheek just as she had done to her sisters. That’s right, this is her sister, you fool! She scolded herself How could you have forgotten! With her attention still on the little girl she began to speak to Lu, even thought she wasn’t at all sure if he was actually paying attention.

“Lu.”

She paused for a moment, wating for some sort of sign that he was listening, but he said nothing, but De still pressed on.

“Lu, there is something that I need to tell you.”

Again she waited for some sort of response, but got none. She took her attention away from the small girl and looked up at Lu.

“The soul that I just escorted to my carriage, well she said that the rest of these girls are well..”

She hesitated for a moment, not sure how Lu would respond to the next part.

“ Well, she said they were her sisters..”

Her gaze was till focused on Lu, and with a quick jerk of his neck he was starring down at De. De meet his glare and held it, no matter how fearful he made her at times like this they were in this together.

“Well do you think then..”

De continued.

“That, that man.”

She motioned to the man on Lus shoulders with her eyes.

“Is their Father?”

De was still holding Lus glare when his eyes popped open.

“WHAT!”

he roared, his voice shaking even the ceiling. De thought that even if the neighbors couldn’t hear Lu that they sure as hell felt him. Lu took the man by the calve that he was squeezing into and threw him into the staircase.

“WAKE UP YOU FOOL!”

He roared as the staircase came down on the man like an earthquake. De just looked on in amazement. Lu walked over to the man and began throwing bit of the staircase everywhere looking for the man. And when he found him he grabbed him by the collar of his shirt.

“You sick son of a b***h who are these girls! Where did you find them?! Who did you take them from!?”

The man groggy looked around with his one eye and the dead girls laying about dinning room.

“I- I-“

He stuttered.

“Answer me you fool unless you want to spend the rest of eternity with me!”

The man looked at Lu, his eyes blood red and his teeth now more like those of a beast, his red horns jutting out of his forehead. “The man squeezed his one eye shut.

“They are my children!”

He said as tears rolling down his cheek, from both his eye and eye socket. Lu tried to look at the man, but couldn’t bring himself to do it. He threw the man back into the rubble which was once the staircase. Waving his hand over the mans body he told him to sleep once more.

“I thought you would beat him more than that.”

De said a bit perplexed. Lu sighed and rolled his neck as his teeth shrunk back to their normal size and his horns retreated back into his forehead.

“I did not want to hear anymore of his pleas or excuses. And that is all he does when he is not asleep, and what fun is it to torture a person who is not awake to experience it? So I figure I will just wait until I get him back to my place and let him try his excused and pleas on Shradeck.”

He walked back to the fireplace and knelt down next to the small girl and De.

“You go take care of the rest, let me sit with this one for a bit.”

De said nothing, but nodded and went on with her business of releasing the other girls souls. She didn’t have the trouble with them that she had had with the first soul, since Lu was not making their Father scream bloody mercy. She told them all that their sisters were waiting for them out side and they gladly followed De to the carriage. And when she opened the door they were all ways met with glad greetings. By the time De had finished it was nearly sun rise, it didn’t hurt anything for them to be out during that time, most people paid no mind to them, especially sine there were maybe 10 humans in the world that could actually see them when they didn’t want to be seen by humans. And none of them lived in London. When De was finished she rejoined Lu by the fireplace, she said nothing when she walked up behind him. She just watched. Lu was stroking the girls hair with his hand as she lay there. De then walked up next to the girl and knelt down by the girl feeling her cheek once more. Although it was hard to tell how long she had been dead by just feeling the warmth of her cheek, seeing as she had been laying by the fire for who knows how many hours, either way she was warm to the touch. When De reached down to the girls neck to feel for a pulse it was then she realized that her throat had not been sliced open. De then began to check the rest of the girls body, there were to flesh wounds, or blood found on her. Even so, she had still been sexually abused.

“Lu.”

Said De, in a soft voice.

“I don’t think this girl is dead, only drugged.”

With that Lu stood up,

“Well, we are no longer needed here then. I suggest we leave before the London Police arrive, which should be soon after the sun rises and starts to bake this house and the bodies inside.”

He said, emotionless, as if he had not spent the last twenty minutes sitting by the small girl whom he thought had passed on or was passing on to the other side.

“Lu.”

De began to plead.

“We can not just leave her here, in the slums of London with no sisters and no parents. For all we know some pervert could come by this house after we leave and take her and sell her as maid or worse! He may decide to keep her as his own sex slave! You know how these people can be!”

De shouted at Lus back, tears running down her face. Lu turned to face De and as he spoke his words came out smooth, calm, and under control but De could tell he was upset.

“De, your job is not to deal with the living but the dead. You can not go around saving every pathetic babe that we come across. It’s life! For the humans anyway.. You can not change the way of the living but only bring those who pass on peace. That is your job, that was your Mothers job and her Mothers job and so forth. And so will it be the job of your child! You are not an orphanage. And if that is what you wanted to do so bad you should have let one of your other siblings take this job! You knew what was expected of you, so do not act as if this is anything new.”

And with that Lu turned back to the man lying in the debris of the staircase. De on the other hand still stood there starring at Lu, infuriated.

“You just don’t want her around because she reminds you to much of K.”

De said, her teeth clenched. Lu stopped what he was doing, he didn’t turn around, but after a moment her spoke.

“That may be true De, and granted having this girl around would bring me pain. But there is also a good chance that what happened to K will happen to this girl if you take her in. And I do not want to go through that again, and nor do I ever want to see you go through what I went through.”

Lu then picked up the limp body of the man and tossed him back over his shoulder.

“Lu, I’m going to take her to the London orphanage. Can I at least do that much for?”

Lu turned his head to face De, and nodded his approval, smiling weakly at her.

“Just don’t take to long. I’ll have breakfast waiting.”

And with that Lu stepped outside the door with the bloodied and beaten man. I’ll have to apologize to him later about my remark about K. De thought to herself, she normally wouldn’t have brought up such an unpleasant subject for Lu, but she just couldn’t help herself. But pushing those thoughts out of her mind she looked around for something wrap the little girl in and luckily enough Lu had left his cloak.

“I don’t think he would mind, do you little one?”

She asked the small girl as she wrapped her up in it and lifted her up into the nook of her arm.

“Now let’s get you somewhere safe.”

And with that De left the house not even taking a look back and the bodies or the blood covered walls and broken staircase. But before she saddled up on her horse she knew she would have to explain to the young ones sisters that she was still alive. And what De had planned to do. With the girl in the nook of Des right arm she place her left palm flat on the carriage door.

“Is our youngest with you De?”

One of the girls asked.

“Yes, yes she is. But there is something that I need to speak with all of you about. It is about your sister.”

There was a moment of silence before anyone in the carriage spoke.

“She did not die did she?”

One finally asked, De was sure that it was the oldest one that had responded. De sighed.

“You are correct my friend. Your sisters lives.”

“I suppose we would should be happy for her.”

Said one of them, although De could tell that she was saddened that they would not all be together.

“What do you plan to do with her?”

Another demand.

“You surely cannot leave her here, there are all sorts of disgusting people that roam these streets and it could be hours, if not days until someone notifies the London Police about what has happened in our house.” “My sister is right, these people will not notify the Police until they have ransacked our house and taken all of out valuables, as few as those are. But many would love to find a small young girl that would easily fetch a large sum underground.”

Another quickly responded before Dee could get a word it.

“Please please sisters, stay calm. I plan to take your sister to the London Orphange not far from here.”

None of the sisters from the carriage spoke for sometime, Dee had the feeling that they were discussing what she had said amongst themselves. After a moments more silence one of them spoke.

“We suppose that will do, but we would much rather if you took her in as your own De. We know that she will not come to harm while she is at your side.”

De was taken aback, but only for a moment.

“Sisters, I know it may seem that way, but mortals have stood by my partners side for years but in the end succumbed to a death that he could do nothing about. Granted she would be safer, but nothing is perfect.”

“We understand that De, and thank you for your honesty. But our minds have not been swayed; we would still prefer her to be with you then those at the orphanage. Bad things happen there De, we knew a few children who went in but never came out. And others who were adopted out into labor farms. It is not a good place at all.”

This was becoming difficult for De, she did not want to go against what Lu said, but then she could not ignore her own feelings, especially when she had three souls in her carriage edging her on.

“Sisters please understand that I will do what I can to convince Lu but for now I fear I must take your sister to the Orphanage.”

“No, please De! Please do not do that!” All three of them cried out. “Please De, we will do what ever you ask of us, please do not send our youngest to the Orphanage.”

De sighed at the persistence of the three.

“Okay here is the deal, I will take you three and your sister back home with me. And I will talk to Lu about it, and tell him that you will do anything to keep your sister out of the orphanage. But if he refuses you must understand that there is not much I can do, granted I could keep the girl but I do not know what that may cause Lu to do. And my family has been working with him for millenniums and that is not something I will just throw away for sake of one babes life.”

“We understand De, and we thank you.”

With that De removed her hand from the carriage and setup the baby comfortably and safely on the steering seat of the carriage. While she then hoped onto the back of her horse, she snapped the reigns and he was off. Galloping threw the streets of London, his hooves not making a single sound as they hit the ground. And he flew straight threw what few people were on the streets at this time. The sun was just about the rise, and so the streets were still rather dark due the shadows that were cast onto the streets from all of the surrounding buildings. But as once they were out of the city and reached an open field De snapped the reigns even harder, yelling at her steed to move. And he did, once he got up to about forty miles per hour his hooves caught fire, thought he seemed not to notice neither did Dee. But then all of a sudden the horse Dee, and the entire carriage disappeared with a loud crack. All that was left where a few scorch marks where the steeds burning hooves had hit the ground during his last minutes on Earth.

As soon as they had disappeared they reappeared on what seemed to be another world entire. De dismounted her steed and untied the girl Lus cloak from the carriage holding the girl in the nook over her arm once more. She then walked over to the carriage door “Okay girls, we’re not at your final destination but I figured that more people I had on my side the better.” She said as she opened the door letting them out. “Welcome to La Planet De Lucifer.” She said with a chuckle. The three souls stepped out of the carriage and onto the the ground looking around in awe. It was nothing like the church had told them. They sad that Lucifer lived in Hell, where lava poured, and volcanoes ruptured and damned beings and souls were tortured within an inch of their life, or put to extremely hard and demanding work for the rest of their afterlife.

“Dee this is nothing like we had imagined!”

On of the girls exclaimed. The other two agreed, oooing and ahhing at the large oaks and streams that cut through gardens, and seemed to climb up mountainsides.

“Yes the only thing that is not true about ‘Hell’ as you know it as, is the that Lucifer lives in extreme heat and loves it. In fact we’ve been working forever to figure out how to get and keep and A/C unit running out here, but the rest is true. But Lu tries to keep his private live and work life separated. So you wont see much torturing during your stay here.”

“Wait, you’re not telling me that that man in our house, the one whom cheek I kissed. That was Lucifer?!”

Exclaimed the oldest one.

“I surely will be going to Hell know, God will never except me as one of his lambs any more!”

But just as De was about to reply to what nonsense she was spewing someone else cut in.

“Now I’m not all that bad.”

Said as he stepped out from behind one of the large oak trees they were passing by. The three girls jumped back at the site of Lu, now knowing what he was.

“In fact if I do remember correctly you even thanked me, now surely you do not wish to take that back as well?”

Lu asked putting on a sad puppy dog face. But before the oldest could respond Lu turned his attention to Dee.

“You and I will have a long talk later about what you have brought here.”

He said eyeballing the small girl.

“And what we are going to do about it. But for now we can put her in the old bedroom, I will send someone in to look at her and see what we can do about reversing the drug her Father gave her.  But as for me I’m off to make more waffles and eggs for out guests, since someone did not inform me ahead of time that I would be feeding a party.”

And with that Lu headed off to the house.

“I will send someone to take care of your horse as well De!”

He shouted from the distance, and then he was out of site.

De turned to face the three souls of the girls. He brow back down in the shape of a V, she was angry.

“You should be ashamed of yourself!”

She scolded them.

“That man is seeing that you get proper justice, and just because God says horrible things about him does not make them true! He is just still sore about Lu trying to take over Heaven, he is not one to let go of old mistakes. Lu was young, and for that he was banished forever, and it ridiculed by everyone human and mystic alike!”

Dee continued to shout at them wagging her finger in their faces.

“Lu does the job no one else will do, he does a job that needs to be done, and you thanked him and even kissed him on the cheek yet you did not burst into flames! You should be ashamed, very ashamed.”

De paused for a moment, her cheeks turning rosy red with all of her shouting. She began to turn and walk away but she caught herself at the last minute and turned back to face the three souls.

“And you know what! I don’t think I want to help you girls by taking in your youngest sister if you are going to treat my friend whom I love dearly so poorly!”

And with that she turned on her heel, and stomped off, the three souls chasing after her fiercely apologizing.

Once the reached the foot of Lus house the three girls were astonished at it’s size and sleekness.

“Let me guess you thought that he lived in a stone castle with the skeletons of the laborers built into it, am I right?”

Dee asked the girls, and when none of them replied De walked off into the house leaving them still starring at the house.

“Unbelievable! You humans will believe anything spewed from a Man in a pointy hat!”

Dee turned around only to see them still awestruck at Lus house.

“Come on now! I haven’t eaten since dinner last night, so I’m’ starving! And as much as I would love to leave you three drooling all over yourself I can’t afford to loose you. So keep up!”

The girls snapped to and caught up to De with ease. Lus house had such furnishing that the three girls had never seen, but they were especially thrown for a loop when they entered the kitchen and saw all of the futuristic appliances Lu had. Such as his refrigerator, his coffee machine, microwave oven, running water, and electric lights. They were amazed, and a tad bit frightened.

“You three stay here while I take your sister to her…”

De caught herself before she said it.

“While I take her to Lus extra room.”

The girls didn’t respond but the all gave thumbs up as the continued to explore Lus kitchen. De couldn’t help but snicker a bit at how excited the girls were over a few simple appliances, but she remember that she is the exact same way when her and Lu have to go into, what to De sees, as the future to snag some son of a b***h. But as she took the little girl to the extra room all thoughts of the girls and their actions left Des mind. All that she could think about is Lu, and how all of this must be for him. Especially since this little one will be staying in Ks old room. Although he was the one who suggested it, but still, De couldn’t help but feel a little saddened at the thought. Speaking of Lu, where is he? De thought, she didn’t remember seeing him in the kitchen, could he be tending to something else? De couldn’t think of much else there was for him to tend to. But as she came up onto Ks old room she got her answer when the door suddenly opened and Lu walked out. He turned and look at Dee and the little one in her arms, still wrapped in his cloak.

“Well everything is ready for her, and I’ll have Caroline come down and fix her some medicine to help reverse the drugs. Hopefully she’ll be okay, she doesn’t seem to have any sort of fever, but then again hot to me isn’t the same as hot to a human child.”

Lu said followed by what seemed a forced chuckle. Nobody said anything for a while, they just stood there in the hallway outside Ks old room. Lu watching the little girl and De watching Lu, but the silence was starting to make De a bit uncomfortable.

“So ummm, Lu…”

She started to say, trying to find some sort of subject to talk about.

“O! I almost forgot that she was wrapped up in your cloak!”

De exclaimed.

“Here let me un wrap her and you can have it back.”

And as De started to wrap the little girl Lu set his hand onto hers.

“Don’t worry about it De, she can keep it, it’ll keep her warm. But I’ll let you go ahead and get her settle into bed, I’ve got to go see what all those girls have done to my kitchen. I could hear them halfway across this hunk of rock you call a planet, they act like they’ve never seen an electric blender before. I mean come on, have they been living under a rock for all their life.”

Lu said rolling his eyes, and smiling at De before he left to go save his kitchen. He can be such a smart a*s at times. Thought De, but she couldn’t help but laugh at it, she all ways found his sarcasm funny, even though her Mother told her not to encourage him.

But as she opened the door to Ks room all laughter left De, she had never been in her room since the incident, and she had figured that Lu hadn’t either. But that was not the case, Ks room was as pristine as if it were the day that Lu had brought her home. He must have cleaned it at least once a month to keep it this clean, this long. De let out a sigh as she looked at a few of the pictures that were still around of Lu and K. But he memories were interrupted by the sound of a large crash that seemed to come from the kitchen.

“Okay little one, I’ve got to go and see what damage your sisters have caused my friend. Now you sleep tight and Caroline will be in shortly to take care of your every need. I will be back in a few hours to check on you.”

De laid the little girl on Ks old bed, and thought about tucking her in, but figured that sheets along with Lus cloak would surely roast the girl. Once she set the girl down she gave her arm a nice long good stretch, the girl had to way at about twenty pounds or so. And it wouldn’t have been so bad except for the fact that De had to keep her in the same position for about an hour all together, that was the hard part. But there was no use complaining about it, so De stretched a little be more and then exited the room shutting the door softly behind her as she headed back towards the kitchen.
