Would

Would

A Poem by Kirsty Hignett
"

'Would' is a poem all about the question that everyone at least once in their life comes to think of. "If looked different and had a different life, would I still be me?".

"

Would

If I were but another face,

my heart and mind the same.

Would I feel the warm embrace

of the spotlight, and rise to fame?

Would the man who owns my heart,

wish to own it still?

Or would fate keep us apart,

as fate so often will?

Would people judge me more on looks,

than personality and good nature?

Would I still be interested in books

or would popularity make me immature?

If I looked the opposite of me,

would I still be the same?

The only sure thing I think would be

the inevitability of my name

Nice one for the first attempt. I like the rhyme and rhythm of the poem as well as the concept.
Nice job! Write more. Welcome to this site!
