When The Ape Comes Knocking

When The Ape Comes Knocking

A Poem by Kirsty Woodward

I’m staring into space

A blank look on my face.

Time is ticking and tocking

The ape has come knocking.

Belongings line the streets and

Linger in abandoned homes.

So what of the human race

The universe is where we roam.

Mother Earth,

How she cries in loneliness.

Gushing oceans and dirt

Here I stare

Waiting

Waiting

Waiting

A measure of past, present and

Future.

The clock is ticking and tocking

For the ape has come knocking.

Time keeps moving, the world keeps changing and each knock on the door brings with it a little fear of what will happen next. The future is ours to create, we can either ignore and hope or we can do something about and make it better, controlling who or what comes knocking at our door. Thank you for the read request, thus poem was very good.

Great last line. You could probably build more off of it. It's a very strong image.

Very clever and well written. We're all a prisoner of time.

Funny and sad how the Human Race has out run itself and is destroying our planet. No matter how one believes we got here, we won't be staying...

Well Kristywood...I find myself kind of taken aback. You just got right to the point and didn't waste any time on malarkey! Well done...you speak true.

Nice write Kirsty! "I'm staring into space, a blank look on my face." I can relate to that all too well... that is where we do our best pondering :)
